In his 3-year college career at Florida and USC, he has 119 tackles (including 8.5 for losses), 14 deflections and 6 interceptions with 22 starts. At USC, he has 97 tackles, including 7.5 for losses, plus 13 deflections and 6 interceptions while starting 21 games. Shaw, USC's most versatile and reliable defensive back, will look to start again at either cornerback or safety as a senior in 2014.Shaw started both at cornerback and free safety as a junior in 2013, although he primarily was at corner. Overall in 2013 while starting all 14 games (at free safety against Hawaii, Arizona and Notre Dame and at cornerback for the other games), he had 67 tackles, including 5.5 for losses of 17 yards, 4 interceptions with 1 for a TD and 7 deflections, plus he returned a blocked punt 14 yards for a TD. He made 2013 All-Pac-12 honorable mention and Phil Steele All-Pac-12 third team. He was named USC's Defensive Perimeter Player of the Year.
